Our Health Care Team

Dr. Enna Hughes

Hospital Director, HBSc, DVM

Enna has wanted to be a veterinarian since she was very young. She recognizes the vital part of our hearts that our pets hold and endeavors in all she does to support the special bond we share. Enna graduated from the University of Guelph Ontario Veterinary College in 1998. She also has an Honours Bachelor of Science degree with a focus on Nutritional Sciences. Enna feels that continuing education – staying current and new treatments, techniques and developing medicine – is vital to being able to provide appropriate veterinary care.

She is a member of the Toronto Academy of Veterinary Medicine and the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association, where she is recognized annually for exceeding the continuing education requirements. Dr. Enna and her husband, Colin, share a home with their 3 children, Joseph, Emma and Meredith, and their new puppy (a Labrador Retriever), Livy and 2 cats: Misty and the newest family member, Franki.

Dr. Emily Yu

Dr. Emily Yu joined us as a veterinarian in October 2016. Dr. Yu graduated from the University of Edinburgh and is thrilled to join our amazing team. Dr. Yu loves to see the positive impact pets have on their family’s lives and is delighted to play a hand in nurturing this special bond. Extremely passionate, Dr. Yu is so committed to our patients that we often find her at the clinic on her days off. Because Dr. Yu didn’t have the opportunity to have pets while in veterinary school, she is on the lookout for the purrfect fur baby!

Practice Manager

Amanda has always loved animals and was a client at the clinic for five years before she joined our staff. She has been with us since early 2010. More recently, Amanda has come back to the clinic full-time as our new Practice Manager and she couldn’t be more thrilled.

After pursuing a career that reflected her educational background in Business Management, Amanda realized that she is most happy and fulfilled working with her four-legged friends and their owners. Amanda has 2 cats, Hercules and Lulu, which she raised as tiny kittens with the help of the staff at the Don Head Village Animal Clinic.

Head Registered Veterinary Technician

Dana completed the Veterinary Technician program at Sheridan College in 2011 and joined our team in the fall of 2013. Like most people in this profession Dana has a deep love for all animals. Growing up with pets helped to influence Dana’s decision in becoming a Veterinary Technician.

At home Dana has three amazing fur babies of her own: Skid,a snowy white American Eskimo, old but sweet Tigger the Dachshund, and a tiny long-haired Chihuahua, Steven, who was born with Dana’s help in her living room! They certainly keep her on her toes.

In her spare time, Dana enjoys a multitude of sports (indoor, outdoor, summer & winter), including horseback riding, rugby, wrestling and snowboarding. When Dana is not outside horsing around she likes to relax with friends and family as well as playing around with her pets.

Registered Veterinary Technician

Katie joined our team in the summer of 2015, arriving fresh from her school days at the Ridgetown Campus at the University of Guelph’s Veterinary Technician program. Katie quickly became a Registered member of the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians.

Always having pets growing up, she learnt her love for animals would lead her to a career which she is passionate about. Currently, she has two kitties (both of which were rescues) named Dolly and Sunny. Katie is particularly passionate about large breed dogs.

Outside of work, Katie enjoys spending time with her friends and family and is a lover of all things outdoors.

Registered Veterinary Technician

We’ve welcomed a new technician, Emily, to our clinic team in May 2016. Emily graduated from the Veterinary Technician program from Seneca College and quickly became registered. Emily’s priority is on making our patients feel as comfortable as possible. At present, Emily is owned by a mixed Shepherd named Easton, who is a high-energy, ball of love but is terrified of having his nails trimmed. Because of this, Emily has a lot of empathy for frightened patients and does everything she can to minimize their stress and make them as relaxed as possible.

Registered Veterinary Technician

Jasmine has been with us for over 6 years now. She graduated from the Seneca Veterinary Technician program and has been Registered for over 8 years now.

Jasmine has been working with us part-time the last few years as she has her own pet grooming studio, Puff ‘N PuRR, where she works carefully on one pet at a time: a great situation for many dogs that are nervous in the typical, large, loud grooming facility. Jasmine has a very gentle ouch and can easily put shy and nervous pets at ease – they respond to well to her calm handling.

Jasmine lives with her naughty Chihuahua Bobo and her two cats, Heemu and Lulu. Jasmine rescued all three pets from situations where their lives were not happy ones. Now they are “spoiled-rotten” happy!
