Dear Clients and Friends,

We at Don Head Village Clinic are continuing to strive to provide the best medicine possible for your pets during these challenging times. With the partial lifting of the COVID-19 restrictions, we are able to see pets for everything again: wellness appointments, vaccinations, elective surgeries, and dental procedures, as well as sick pets and emergencies. Starting Monday, June 1st we will be returning to our regular business hours (although continuing curbside service).

It is important that we proceed carefully now. How we all manage the next few weeks together will dictate whether things continue to improve, or if COVID-19 cases begin to spike again bringing back more strict restrictions.

After consultation with our provincial regulatory organizations as well as Ontario Public Health, we will continue all the extra safety precautions and additional hygiene practices we have already put into place – practices that should not only protect our staff but you and your pets. We will continue our curbside appointments and food/medication pick up for now. Please understand that we are trying to space our appointment times to prevent overlap so pet parent contact in the parking lot will be minimized while making sure that any unwell pet is seen. Please be patient with us as we will now be contacting those pets with overdue vaccinations and those with elective procedures that were postponed previously. Our phones have been very busy as doctors conduct calls for every appointment. If you reach our voicemail please leave a message – we will respond as quickly as we can. It would be very helpful if requests for food and medication were sent over email at and we will let you know as soon as they are available for pick up.

We are now returning to our regular hours, but continuing our curbside service where we will admit the pets into the clinic while pet parents stay outside:

  • Monday 8:30 am to 8:00 pm
  • Tuesday 8:30 am to 7:00 pm
  • Wednesday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
  • Thursday 8:30 am to 8:00 pm
  • Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
  • Saturday 8:30 am to 12:00 noon
We hope that over the next couple of weeks we will see that the COVID-19 curve will stay flattened and we will see a return to more normal practice soon.

Tick, Flea and Heartworm Prevention

At this time of the year, we should be on tick prevention for all our canine pets. Please give the first dose if you have any doses leftover from last year. If you do not, please call us or send an email and we will organize prevention for your pet that you can pick up. We understand that some pets have grown in the last year so we recommend weighing them at home so we may provide you with the most accurate dosage. Heartworm prevention should be started by June 1st, and the four-disease screening blood test (Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia and Anaplasmosis) should be done by this point as well.

We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 health situation. We hope to soon see some relaxing of the social distancing restrictions we live with now and we look forward to seeing life start to be more normal in the near future.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any suggestions or concerns you may have.

Stay safe, be healthy, and support each other.
